Dana White’s Contender Series doesn’t resume until 2024, but that doesn’t mean the UFC is done handing out contracts this year.

Heavyweight prospect Robelis Despaigne has joined the promotion’s heavyweight roster following an unbelievable four-second knockout of Miles Banks at Fury FC 84 this past Sunday in Houston. Despaigne’s signing was announced shortly after his win.

Watch the blindingly fast finish below.

All it took was one good right hand from Despaigne to floor Banks and give Despaigne his fourth win in four pro bouts, all by first-round knockout. This was also the third straight fight in which Despaigne needed less than 15 seconds to find a finish, following a three-second knockout of Stevie Payne and a 12-second knockout of Travis Gregoire.

It should come as no surprise that the UFC made signing Despaigne a priority.

Despaigne, 35, made his pro MMA debut in June 2022 following a successful Taekwondo career. The 6-foot-7 Cuban has medaled at several notable international competitions, including a career-best bronze medal win at the 2012 London Olympics.
